VAC AERO Ships Vacuum Furnace to Aerospace Manufacturer in Mexico!

press rel mar14Burlington, August 18, 2014 – VAC AERO shipped a VAH 6660 HV-2 horizontal vacuum furnace to an international company’s plant in Mexico to process aerospace parts. This customer has a long history with VAC AERO, having purchased many vacuum furnaces for its plants all over the world over the last few decades. The furnace features an all-metal hot zone with a work chamber of 48” x 48” x 60” with a 4,000-pound load capacity. It utilizes gas cooling to 2-bar absolute pressure and operates at temperatures of 1,000 °F to 2,200 °F. The furnace is also equipped with a 35” diffusion pump and VAC AERO’s HC900 control system. A key control feature is the ability to independently control the work chamber zones for optimal work-load uniformity as well as the ability to program heat-treatment cycles that can then be run automatically and accurately allowing the operator to achieve the specific structure and properties required for their application.

VAC AERO Kalisz Receives Several Nadcap Coating Approvals

vacuum furnaceKalisz, Poland, July 14, 2014 – VAC AERO’s Kalisz, Poland division has recently been awarded a Nadcap coatings certificate in accordance with SAE Aerospace standard AS7003. Scope of Accreditation: In recognition of the successful completion of the PRI evaluation process the accreditation was granted to the Kalisz, Poland facility to perform the following: AC7108/1 Rev B – Nadcap  Audit Criteria for Painting and Dry Film Lubricant Coatings when performed with AC7109/1, /2 or /3 – Ceramic/metallic Spray & Thermal Coatings; AC7109 Rev D – Nadcap Audit Criteria for Coatings; AC7109/1 Rev C – Nadcap Audit Criteria for Thermal Spray – High Velocity Oxy Fuel (HVOF) / High Velocity Air Fuel (HVAF) Plasma Thermal Spray; AC7109/4 Rev C – Nadcap Audit Criteria for Stripping – Chemical; AC7109/5 Rev E – Nadcap Audit Criteria for Coating Evaluations – Bond Strength, Hardness, Metallography/Microstructure and Microindentation Hardness.

VAC AERO Ships Vertical Vacuum Furnace to Aerospace Manufacturer

press rel mar14Burlington, May 26, 2014 – A VAV 7260 HV-6 bottom loading vacuum furnace with a work chamber of 72” diameter x 60” high has been shipped to an Aerospace manufacturer. The furnace includes a high vacuum pumping system and a 6-bar argon and nitrogen quench system designed to incorporate unique performance features; the cooling nozzle configuration and location have been engineered to improve gas penetration into the workload, gas velocity and cooling speed. The energy-efficient graphite hot zone is capable of processing temperatures of up to 2400°F. The heavy duty hearth is constructed with quickly removable rails of pure molybdenum capable of handling distributed loads of up to 4000 lbs. The furnace operating system is based on VAC AERO’s versatile HC900 interactive hybrid control package with SCADA and complete network integration capabilities and remote monitoring and control.

VAC AERO Commissions a Vacuum Furnace at an East Providence, RI-based Aerospace Manufacturer

press rel mar14Burlington, April 14, 2014 – The production-scale, 2-bar VAH3436 horizontal vacuum furnace with work zone dimensions of 24” wide x 24” high x 36” is designed to process aerospace parts under high-vacuum and partial pressures with excellent process control and is rated at a normal operating temperature of 2400°F (1316°C). The hot zone is comprised of curved graphite elements and the heavy duty hearth is constructed with quickly removable rails of pure molybdenum designed to support a uniformly distributed load of 1000 lbs at 2400°F.  The vacuum chamber and door are constructed of carbon steel and feature a double-wall, water-cooled design. The furnace operating system is based on VAC AERO’s versatile HC900 interactive hybrid control package with SCADA and complete network integration capabilities and remote monitoring and control. The furnace is expected to run at full capacity next month.

VAC AERO Commissions First of Two Vacuum Furnaces at a New Hampshire-based Castings Manufacturer

press rel mar14Burlington, March 14, 2014 – The VAH5050 HV-2 horizontal vacuum furnace with work zone dimensions 36” wide x 36” high x 50” deep is the first VAC AERO furnace to be installed at this facility and will replace an old existing furnace. The hot zone is comprised of curved graphite elements and the heavy duty hearth is constructed with quickly removable rails of pure molybdenum designed to support a uniformly distributed load of 3000 lbs at 2400°F. The lightweight design’s low thermal mass enables faster quenching and longer life. The furnace is equipped with an external recirculating inert gas quenching system and includes gas storage and dual loop cooling systems. The furnace operating system is based on VAC AERO’s versatile HC900 interactive hybrid control package with SCADA and complete network integration capabilities and remote monitoring and control.

VAC AERO Commissions a Vacuum Furnace at a Research Center in South Korea!

KNU-Korea-wsBurlington, Ontario, February 18, 2014 – VAC AERO has recently commissioned a horizontal vacuum furnace at a major South Korean university metallurgical research center.

The VAH5058 HV-8 furnace chamber is 36” wide X 36” high X 58” long with a hot zone comprised of high efficiency graphite felt, carbon composite and curved graphite elements. It is equipped with a gas quench system capable of quickly cooling the workload from processing temperatures, at quench pressures of up to eight bar. The furnace operating system is based on VAC AERO’s versatile HC900 interactive hybrid control package with SCADA and complete network integration capabilities and remote monitoring and control.

VAC AERO Ships a horizontal Vacuum Furnace to a Metallurgical R&D center in Quebec, Canada!

Quebec-metallurgy-center-wsBurlington, Ontario, January 21, 2014 – VAC AERO has recently shipped a horizontal vacuum furnace to the Centre de Metallurgie du Québec (Québec Metallurgy Centre), a research institute affiliated with the Trois-Rivières college in Québec.

The VAH2636 HV-2 furnace will be housed in a new a state-of-the Art facility in Trois-Rivières. The chamber size is 23” X 18” X 36” (WHL) with a metal hot zone designed for operating at temperatures of up to 2400°F. The furnace operating systems is based on VAC AERO’s versatile HC900 interactive hybrid control package with SCADA and complete network integration capabilities and remote monitoring and control.

Coatings Division Receives Five Coating Approvals

vacoatings 2Boucherville, Quebec (June 10, 2013) –VAC AERO Coatings division recently received approvals from Pratt & Whitney USA, Rolls-Royce Canada, Bell Helicopter and The SAFRAN Group (Messier-Bugatti) for a variety of thermal spray coatings. The facility was qualified to the stringent standards of Pratt & Whitney PWA 53-5 plasma spray coatings for steel, nickel and cobalt base alloys, and is an approved Rolls Royce RR Energy Gas Turbine Sub Tier Supplier. The facility is also approved for Bell Helicopter’s BPS 4463 tungsten carbide coatings as well as The Safran Group’s WC/Co/Cr 86-10-4 and IFC 40-818-02 HVOF coatings.
